The Cervélo Caledonia is a bike designed for all outings. It doesn't fit into a category easily, and that's what makes it so appealing. It was designed for our Thursday evening itineraries, which often deviate from the more conventional ?road trips?. It was trying to fit wider tires to the R5 and make the Áspero slimmer that this new type of bike was born.
At Cervélo, to design a bicycle, they start by defining the shape of the tubes between their different ranges. These are shapes that they have used on other models and whose qualities they know (aerodynamics, stiffness, lightness, etc.), which allow them to reach the desired characteristics more quickly. For the Caledonia, the goal was a balance of strength, lightness and aerodynamics. They then selected a formula that offered the performance needed for this type of racing bike.
Modern cyclists are looking for a bike that can cover long distances quickly and without limits for maximum enjoyment. By using low modulus carbon fiber in specific places to avoid the brittleness of high modulus carbon, Cervélo engineers have managed to make it a durable bike. It was created for the way we ride and can accommodate 34mm tires or 31mm with fenders.
