Campagnolo Super Record EPS, the feather in the cap of Campagnolo® innovation thanks to the technologies, materials and expertise behind the design of the groupset, consolidates its benchmark role by moving up to a 12-speed.
Leading the way for 8, 9, 10, and 11 speeds and, more recently, 12 speeds, Campagnolo has always been a pioneer in innovation for racing bike transmission. The recently introduced Super Record and Record mechanical drivetrains marked not only a new era in the technology of the mechanical groupset, but also made the way for what was to become the electronic version of the Super Record 12-speed groupset. EPS technology was tested on the field by cyclists and before its launch on the market, it was subjected to the usual testing by the Campy Tech Lab in the most demanding lab in the world: the World Tour.
Super Record EPS Disc Brake Ergopower 2-speed
The shape of the updated brake lever with its 2x12-speed design is the result of painstaking studies carried out in the Campy Tech Lab to ensure that, together with positioning of the downshift lever, the cyclist has an intuitive, practical, comfortable "control center". The Ergopower Super Record EPS DB controls incorporate the AMS (Adjustable Modulation System), which allows setting of the desired mode and reach adjustment to position the brake lever an optimum distance from the handlebar.
Multishifting technology, namely the option to change several sprockets with in a single shift is now applied to all the 12-speed cassettes. Cyclists can use the MyCampy app to personalize the Super Record EPS groupset. The Ergopower control also offers the cyclist total control over how the transmission works thanks to the MODE button (found immediately behind the downshift lever on both right and left-hand controls). The MODE button lets the cyclist check battery charge, make accurate adjustments to gears or derailleur (even while pedaling) and carry out any kind of diagnostic check.
Flat Mount Disc Brake Calipers
The flat-mount Campagnolo brake callipers ensure powerful, modular braking in any situation owing to pistons measuring 22 millimetres in diameter. Brake pad return guaranteed by the magnetic system ensures that there is no friction at the time of brake lever release. A special metal plate positioned between the pad and the calliper piston, cushions the vibrations during braking.
It is indeed possible to choose the rear brake caliper with a disc measuring either 140 mm or 160 mm in diameter and to use a specific 160 mm front caliper. Additionally, work was done on the insertion of the disc in the caliper to make changing the wheel easier and faster.
Flat Mount
Campagnolo disc brake calipers are suitable on all Flat Mount forks and frames. Thanks to this standard the assembly is allowed without converters or adapters. While the caliper is assembled directly on the fork, increasing a lot the stiffness of the complete system. This is the ideal configuration for racing. The Campagnolo solution needs only 2 bolts for assembling the caliper on the fork. This allows to leave out the two bolts that you can’t inspect.
Brake pads
Removing the pads you can immediately understand if you need to replace them. The replacement is needed when the thickness of the compound reaches the wear indicator at 1.5 mm.
Chamfered bottoms allow for easier wheel replacement because the rotor is helped from the pads shapes when entering in the caliper A metal sheet damps the vibrations coming from the braking phase. Semi-metallic formulation tuning provide the use in dry and wet condition without compromises.
Notes: The Campagnolo EPS electronic drivetrain complies with IP67 international standards. This means that the system is able to protect its electronic components from dust and liquid infiltration. Brake discs are not included. It can be ordered separately.
