  Campagnolo S.r.l. makes extensive use of the most innovative technologies and the best materials in all its products: carbon fiber, titanium and aluminum alloys developed by the aeronautics industry. And it is precisely through carbon fiber - after dominating the world of aluminum for decades - that the company aims to achieve further success with technologies and applications until now unthinkable. We only need mention the products in the 2002 range: from wheels in carbon fiber - incredibly light at just 1,240 g the pair - to the crank set and rear derailleur with outer plate, again in carbon fiber, compatible with the innovative 10 SPEED drivetrain.   Technology

  Basically Campagnolo works with aerospace aluminium alloys, which are used for manufacturing high quality cycling components, so as to obtain extreme reliability and reduced weight, typical features of today's competition bicycles. The cold forged pieces are worked in so-called "machining centers" or in automatic production lines equipped with "in process" or "post process" statistical size control. In the case of highly critical parts the pieces are controlled 100%. Most machines are numerically controlled and in several specific areas they are also assisted by robots. Nearly all utensils are custom built by Campagnolo, which has developed its own manufacturing technology in addition to the technical product innovations. The NC system installed also provide quality control data at all levels of a given work cycle.

  Tests

  It is mainly by way of continuous tests that Campagnolo's notoriously high quality standards are achieved in each of the company's departments. From the very start, during product design, thanks to the support of modern CAD and FEM systems, it is possible to obtain the most favourable cross dimensions for every single part. Highly sophisticated apparatus is at the technicians disposal for a steady analysis of raw materials and semi-manufactured products at delivery, in order to verify total correspondence to the standards called for by the design. Custom built Campagnolo machinery for testing performance and wear on front and rear derailleurs. Spectrophotometers, quantum detectors, three-dimensional display systems, just to mention some of the instruments most frequently used in the testing laboratory. The mentioned instruments are used in addition to other measuring and testing facilities developed directly by Campagnolo for customized product testing, according to a scheme of some of the toughest standards in the field, resulting from 64 years of applied manufacturing experience.
