Colnago Prestige Disc 2020

Colnago is best known for its road racing bikes, but the company has also enjoyed much success in cyclocross. Wout van Aert won the 2016 cyclocross world championships (his first of three in a row) on a Colnago, but legends such as Lars Boom and Sven Nys also won world championship titles aboard Colnago ‘cross bikes.

The Prestige is Colnago’s lone cyclocross bike, and it's offered in one mid-range build—seen here—with SRAM's solid Force1 drivetrain and disc brakes. The stock wheelset is tubeless ready, but unfortunately the tires are not. If you prefer a custom build, the frameset is offered for $2400. Colnago's GRV shares its frame with the Prestige, but features a gravel-oriented build.

Once fitted with a set of Maxxis tubeless-ready cyclocross tires, the Prestige proved to be an formidable race bike. It is a reactive bike that leans towards the quicker side of the handling spectrum. So it’s doubly surprising that the stiff and fast Prestige rides so smoothly. Vibrations are well damped, and bumps are muted.

Colnago's heritage may be born from its laudable road racing success, but the Prestige shows company knows a few things about making race-ready bikes for the dirt and mud too.
