Is it possible to design a aluminium frame that weighs only 920 grams? Yes, we call it ARIN. By applying ORBEA’s new Tension Control Technology (TCT) to the frame we have strengthened the overall structure, allowing the use of less material. TCT is a comprehensive process that includes the selection of an exotic aluminium alloy and precise heat treatment and strengthening processes. The result is one of the lightest and strongest aluminum frames ever built. Building a great frame like the ARIN goes well beyond the material selection and processing, it requires a depth of knowledge of the function of tube shapes in relation to torsional stiffness and vibration damping. ARIN’s tubing profile is integrally designed by ORBEA's own R&D department using sophisticated aerospace calculus programs allowing each tube to be designed with a profile and thickness specific to take the amount of stress it receives with each pedal stroke. The result is a triconical tube shape with different poligonal profiles that help achieve a 15% increase in lateral stiffness in comparison to other frames, whether carbon or aluminium. ARIN’s polished welds and aerographic designs give it an elegant look in perfect harmony with the most modern technology. ARIN features ORBEA’s characteristic geometry known for its good maneuverability and its high head tube giving an ergonomic position which is a bit more upright and less tiring.
