Is it possible to design an aluminium frame weighing only 920g?
We have managed to do so at ORBEA, which is why we are presenting you with ARIN.
Through the development of a new tension control technology (TCT), applied to the frame’s more critical areas, we have managed to reduce the thickness of the tubing by an unimaginable degree.
The tube profile has been wholly designed by ORBEA’s R&D department and has been made using sophisticated finite element analysis programs from the aerospace sector. This ensures that
each tube develops a specific thickness and profile consistent with the load the frame has to withstand at each pedal stroke. As a result, we obtain a structure of triconical tubes with different
polygonal profiles that increases lateral stiffness by more than 15% in comparison to other aluminium or carbon fibre frames.
Its polished welds and aesthetic designs give it a simple yet elegant appearance in perfect harmony with the latest technology.
All this while upholding a geometrical design that defines us through its good handling on the road and a higher head tube that favours an ergonomic position, thanks to its upright and relaxed position.
