| Technology
There can be no doubt that, with its innovations, ITM has had the greatest influence on the evolution of handlebars and stems, playing a leading role in the world of competitive and amateur cycling.
First the single groove, then the double one to house the control cables on the handlebar bends; aerobars and aerodynamic extensions such as the Dual System and the Synergic System; authentic 'handlebar systems' as the Dual Aero and the Dual Aero CX2; forged stems such as the 400 Racing in the 1980s; welded stems such as the legendary Eclypse, the renowned Goccia and the Aheadset stems in more recent years, and the highly evolved Big One and Millennium at the threshold of the year 2000, have all made a decisive contribution to the success of ITM's image and sales, and to its undisputed leadership in the industry.
The high level of conformity of its products has been achieved thanks to a constant, unstinting commitment to research into the materials used and to the design development of its various products.
Such attention responds to the primary need to optimise weight, form, dynamism and durability (particularly of the handlebar bend, stem and seat post components) and by the unequivocal responsibilities of the manufacturer to the end user.
The technical managers at ITM have therefore prepared a series of inspection tests to measure the loads applied to the components of the handlebars, stems and seat posts, carefully analysing the stresses on the bicycle with control units recording all variations according to different riding conditions.
The test products are mounted on bicycles which are ridden by professional and amateur cyclists with different physical characteristics over different routes: flat routes on unsealed gravel surfaces, steep climbs and descents, tracks on packed earth, exhausting paths over paving stones and treacherous mountain bike tracks, full of holes, bumps, jumps and various kinds of obstacle.
The results from the practical tests are analysed in the laboratory and transformed into technical and production solutions able to guarantee the utmost safety of the finished product and to take the level of reliability and durability of ITM components to even higher standards.
